Faces 'n Places, Paris

Publisher Description

This book is a photo essay on the Sights and Sites of Paris as seen through my camera lens as I walked the streets of this most photogenic of cities.

My Parisian friend Jean-François (Jeff) Labrouche, who is a world class photographer, said, “So many people smile for you. This is unusual. I wish I could get such a response”.

Jeff suggested I should publish some of my photos under the title of “Faces and Places, Paris” and this is the result.

The photo of the naked woman posed in front to the Manet painting in the Musée d’Orsay is atypical of my experiences. She passed through the staff door like it was a curtain, walking confidently through the visitors showing no embarrassment or timidity. When she posed, the similarities of her figure and hairdo to the woman in the painting were striking. Suddenly, she turned to leave just as she had come.

In Jardin des Tuileries, a young woman was photographing her boyfriend as he fondled the breast of a Maillot sculpture. Asking permission to take photos as well, she replied, “Mais oui!”.

It is my hope that these photos will remind visitors of their special times in Paris and encourage others to make a visit.
