Elliot and Vivian race to fulfill their wonderous apprenticeship to Professor van Muren, and take the space-time machine, METIS, to a new continent in order to aid Martha Coston. Despite the few troubles this new apprenticeship causes at home, it still offers the twins an incredible new insight into the new science and technology developing in the world all around them.
