A very brief overview of the subspecialty of geriatrics (on the principle geriatric syndromes, special problems, psychiatric disorders, and specific aspects of pharmacotherapy in the elderly) + a few select chapters on poisonings and overdoses; heat, cold and electrical injuries; treatment of tobacco dependence; pain management; pre-operative medical evaluations and several other topics that simply do not fit into any of the other internal medicine subspecialties but are essential for medical students.
