In the 6th century AD, the Near East was divided between two venerable empires: the Persian and the Roman. A hundred years on and one had vanished forever, while the other seemed almost finished. Ruling in their place were the Arabs: an upheaval so profound that it spelt, in effect, the end of the ancient world. In the Shadow of the Sword explores how this came about. Spanning from Constantinople to the Arabian desert, and starring some of the most remarkable rulers who ever lived, he tells a story vivid with drama, horror, and startling achievement.

Not worth a purchase
Very poorly researched, as has been pointed out before. This book overlooks centuries of notable accounts and attempts to offend in both title and contents.
Well deserved a read👍🏼
A very good purchase for anyone interested in the actual history of the late Persian, Greek, and Middle Eastern world, all discharges of this book solely based on religious values, ideals, or sources, should be ignored. It is very well written and very well researched, even if it doesn’t write about some of the Middle Eastern events based off of religious texts and sources.
