An instant New York Times bestseller!
New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh returns to a world devastated by change in her award-winning Psy-Changeling Trinity series, where two people defined by their aloneness hold the fate of the Psy in their hands. . . .
Termed merciless by some, and a robotic sociopath by others, Payal Rao is the perfect Psy: cardinal telekinetic, CEO of a major conglomerate, beautiful—and emotionless.
For Canto Mercant, family and loyalty are everything. A cardinal telepath deemed “imperfect” by his race due to a spinal injury, Canto cares for the opinions of very few—and ruthlessly protects those he claims as his own. Head of intel for the influential Mercant family, he prefers to remain a shadow in the Net, unknown and unseen. But Canto is also an anchor, part of a secretive designation whose task it is to stabilize the PsyNet. Now that critical psychic network is dying, threatening to collapse and kill the entire Psy race with it.
To save those he loves, Canto needs the help of a woman bound to him by a dark past neither has been able to forget. A woman who is the most powerful anchor of them all: Payal Rao. Neither is ready for the violent inferno about to ignite in the PsyNet . . . or the passionate madness that threatens to destroy them both.

My favorite in the series
Short version: I absolutely adored this book. Highly recommended- 10/10. I read it in one sitting, have since reread it like seven times. Don’t deprive yourself of this one, it is so, so good.
Longer version: I have followed the entire Psy-Changeling series for years - and now the Trinity books too. Tied with Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunter series, it’s probably the most re-read books I own. They are my readable comfort food. I have taken actual days off in advance of a new Nalini book coming out. I once fooled Amazon into thinking I was Australian, because time zones let me get a new book a couple of hours early. - All this is to let you know exactly what it means, when I tell you that this is my favorite out of all of them. I loved it to an absurd degree.
About the book: I’d been curious about Anchors since the first book, but I still didn’t expect to find myself so intrigued and fascinated by every intricacy and detail of Anchor-life (🤞for a book on Arran the angry mercenary anchor). The plot was highly interesting in itself, while also furthering the overarching Trinity plot. Zero spoilers, just trust me - it’s great.
While I thoroughly enjoyed the setting and the plot, the main characters completely stole the show for me. I still cannot believe how hard I fell in love with these two. Canto was amazing and a joy, but Payal blew me away. I loved everything about her, but her neurospiciness was what made my adoration skyrocket beyond reason. I have rarely connected so much with a character. I kept identifying with so many aspects of her personality and world view, I saw myself reflected in a way I rarely do. Anyway, I loved these characters as individuals and I loved them together and as a team. They literally saw the best in each other (ex: his wheelchair, her spice - where others might’ve seen flaws, they each saw in the other success in survival and the strength it must’ve taken to overcome it). He fought to make her a leader and get her power and never undermined her or tried to take over. Their respect for each other was palpable and touching.
Tl;dr: This book is great, you should really read it
