Publisher Description
In an instant he became her hero. Then he became her lover and her friend.
My name is Jaxon Hart.
You watched me grow up. You watched me fight for my life. Now, I’m fighting for hers.
From the second I laid eyes on Annika Leander, I wanted to help her. Protect her. Vindicate her. But she’s got baggage to get through. Hell, we both do.
A funny thing happens, though, when you finally connect with someone in a different way than you ever have before. The baggage doesn’t seem so heavy.
I supposed that’s really the only thing that matters when the heart gets involved.
Customer Reviews
Poignantly beautiful and touching.
I spent 1/3 of the time reading this book through tears.
This book is the third instalment in the Hart series, and it was an emotional and heartbreaking read. And in saying so I absolutely LOVED reading it.
It was relatable, realistic and moving. I can relate to Annika and her mentality of 'preparation', every girl in all of our lives are taught to always be vigilant, to learn how to defend ourselves, to be smart and careful. Life is doesn't care about any of that. This book for me represent like so many others like it, a part of a movement, a part in our national and international discussions and discourse that we need to have.
Jax and Annika's story was really beautifully told. I cannot begin to express how much I loved how they developed as characters, the story was not centred around their growth per se, but the incidents still made me realise that they have changed from who they were before.
I loved seeing them together and growing closer.
This is Carter's best work to date, it has even replaced Groupie in my #1 spot, which I didn't think was possible, but when an author writes a poignantly beautiful and touching book, how can it not become your favourite?
I highly recommend this, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the best book so far.
