Publisher Description

The New Testament is the account of Jesus Christ’s life on earth as told by the four evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.  One or other, on occasion, brings us a unique account, especially John, but mostly more than one contributes, with one often making a principal contribution.  It is, perhaps, in considering their work as part of a seamless whole that one can best grasp the magnificent splendour of who Jesus Christ is and what he told us of the purpose of his life on earth.

This work tries to present a continuous narrative, comprising all four gospels.  Its immediate source is Unified New Testament, which presents the gospels in parallel, by chapter, and within chapter by verse.  The gospels are not strictly chronological, nor do they all treat exactly the same material, but overall continuity has been achieved, by making transfers, so that like material from different evangelists is always treated together, while preserving its original position intact.

It is not feasible, nor desirable, to present each evangelist’s contribution on every event, while maintaining narrative continuity.  The reader may, however, quickly locate all source material by reference to the unified new testament and may, if he so chooses, use this record to research his own areas of interest.

The author does not pretend to be a biblical scholar, just an interested layman, who would like to think that this work would stimulate others, as researching and writing it has him, and that they would, perhaps, consider making their own contributions.

Please note: Des Garrity’s ‘Unified New Testament’ is a companion piece to this title and is available on iTunes. We have had to offer it separately due to sizing and formatting issues.

The Unified New Testament is a combination of the four evangelists’ gospels, laid out in parallel columns. The entries in each column briefly capture each verse, or group of verses, in the same consecutive fashion as the author wrote them. The columns, in addition, show transfers to (t) and transfers from (f), where it is considered that the original position is in error, or inconsistent with similar references in the other gospels. Red digits refer to the sequence in which comments are made in the text, while each one shows the verses to which the comment refers.
