St. Nicholas

An illustrated magazine for children, St. Nicholas contains over 1,000 pages and images of toys, crafts, songs and characters for the Christmas season. Additionally, the magazine begins with a biography of St. Nicholas, the man who supposedly inspired the legend of Santa Claus.

Saint Nicholas was a fourth-century Greek Christian bishop of Myra, a city in present-day Turkey. He was famous for his generous gift-giving, especially to poor citizens. He was typically portrayed as a bearded bishop, and his image has been found across Europe in the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Germany. Today, St. Nicholas is recognized as a patron saint of many diverse groups, including archers, sailors and children.
