Ten years ago, Calamity came. It was a burst in the sky that gave ordinary people extraordinary powers. The awed public started calling them Epics.
David Charleston will go to any lengths to stop Steelheart—the villainous, seemingly invincible Epic who killed his father and wreaks havoc on the city that was once Chicago. But to exact revenge in Steelheart’s world, David will need the Reckoners, a shadowy group of rebels bent on maintaining justice.
And it turns out that the Reckoners just might need David too.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Steelheart is the most thrilling revision of the superhero world that we’ve seen since Watchmen. Teenager David Charleston can barely remember a time when superhumans didn’t rule over the shambles of America, but his father’s murder by Chicago’s brutal ruler, Steelheart, has him bent on retribution. As he seeks to join a covert group dedicated to destroying their near-omnipotent overlords, David’s personal knowledge of Steelheart’s weakness could change everything—or push him over the edge. Brandon Sanderson has created a genre-defying dystopia that’s both philosophical and exciting.
