San Francisco is a city of ghosts. Some of them refuse to stay dead.

A strange illness is tearing through the city's vampire population, stripping away restraint and turning old predators feral. When her brother Cyrus agrees to consult for the unnervingly charismatic vampire Seneca Lynch, psychic medium Lena Alan is forced into a world she has always kept at arm's length.

Reunited with private detective Jesper MacMillian, they enter a part of the Demimonde where folklore is real, alliances are unraveling, and every favor comes at a cost. Seneca Lynch claims he wants to stop what is spreading. Whether that makes him an ally or something far worse remains unclear.

As the lines between predator and protector blur, Lena and MacMillian must decide how far into the shadows they're prepared to go…and whether some evils can only be survived by letting them in.
