An ironclad sense of right and wrong can really complicate things for a bounty hunter. Maybe that’s why Colter Shaw prefers to call himself a “reward seeker.” Either way, his insatiable need to set things right turns a routine job into an epic showdown in this entry into Jeffery Deaver’s thriller series. Shaw is hunting down a pair of hate-crime suspects when he stumbles upon a group living in the wilds of Washington who have all the earmarks of a deadly and destructive cult. We knew we were on board for this unrelentingly suspenseful adventure when the badass hero had a brush with death on the very first page. Shaw’s dogged mission to take down this cult from the inside makes The Goodbye Man an adrenaline-fuelled duel where you’re never quite sure who’s the hunter and who’s being hunted.
