The Great Forest

Before Sarah of the Ecosystem Cycle, there was another Sarah—her mother.

A sixteen-year-old apprentice, Sarah longs for the day when she can delve beyond the confines of the village of stone. With the guidance of a young Sensor named Abraham, she learns that she possesses a unique power, one that enables her to Sense living things others cannot. But her master, Aaron, forbids her to leave the village on pain of losing her position within the Sensors' ranks.

When an unidentified predator appears in the Great Forest surrounding the village, Sarah and Abraham are convinced that only her power can save their people from destruction. Little do they know that there are those among the Sensors who will do anything—even kill—to prevent Sarah's secret from coming to light.
