Descripción editorial

Theodore Dreiser (1871- 1945) was an American novelist, journalist and social activist, who is considered a pioneer of unvarnished truth telling in modern literature. His great novels depicting a real-life of American society changed forever the direction of American literature, and brought Dreiser to nomination to the Nobel Prize in 1930. 'An American Tragedy' is one of his most famous works.

Published in 1925, 'An American Tragedy' is a three-part novel based on an actual murder case of 1906. The story follows the main character - the ambitious but immature Clyde Griffiths who is raised by poor and devoutly religious parents. He wants a wealth and life of luxury, but on his way up the American social ladder, he unwittingly leads himself on a path of self-destruction…

The legendary novel has been translated into many languages around the world and inspired several films. The blood-chilling, but truthful story is an absolute must-read for every educated and thinking-mind person. Have a good time with American classics and enjoy it.
