The final months of Sir Ian Hamilton's command at Gallipoli, including the August offensive, the struggle for Sari Bair and Suvla, the widening controversy over the conduct of operations and his recall in October 1915.
Originally published in 1920, this second volume contains Chapters XIII-XXI and four documentary appendices preserving important evidence concerning artillery and military orders.
The AETERNUS edition retains Hamilton's historical testimony and adds new concluding studies of combined naval and military operations, the armies which fought upon the peninsula, the Ottoman defence and the greater strategic consequences of the campaign.
The result is both a firsthand command narrative and a historically framed record of one of the most consequential failures of British arms in the First World War.
