Palmetto-Leaves

Descripción editorial

Harriet Elisabeth Beecher Stowe was an American abolitionist and author.

Palmetto Leaves by Harriet Beecher Stowe is neither a novel, nor a novella. The book is written in a memorial genre with elements of travel guide, published in 1873. Stowe in this work describes her winters in the town of Mandarin, Florida where she came after the U.S Civil War (1861-1865). The place of her inspiration wasn't purchased occasionally, she wanted her son to recover from injures he had received as a Union soldier and to make a new start in her literary life. The distinguishing feature of this work is a great description of Florida nature in January and wonderful feelings which you get living here. This story will be useful for those readers who love nature, solitariness, and quiet life.
