Descripción editorial
Everything indicates that the environmental crisis is caused by our economic and political systems, yet no economist or politician has come up with a feasible solution. What about the climatologists and technical experts? Are they proposing anything? In fact, they are; however, their proposals are not feasible either; they would produce awful side effects. So, what is the purpose of this book? This is not an academic treatise on economics nor a documentary on the latest climate disasters, as the title might suggest. I am not an economist, either; this whole essay is rather my introspective analysis, as a retired engineer, of the internal forces that are causing the social, financial, and environmental chaos our civilization has fallen into. This outlook has now matured for some 47 years since my first book, published in 1975, where I forecasted many of the crises taking place today. However, I am now outlining a possible way out, bearing in mind a most important factor, i.e., any future technological solution needs to be socially, economically, and environmentally compatible in order to work.
