As Castiel walked around the figure, he realized that he was looking at himself, but a version of himself that he guessed to be twenty or thirty years older. When he was nearly face to face, the man’s head turned and locked eyes with Castiel. In that moment, clouds swirled overhead and formed angry dark masses as a chill wind whipped up around the two men. The sky darkened and rain fell in heavy waves, soaking him to the bone in a matter of seconds.

“Who are you?” Castiel asked of his vision twin.

“I am the instrument of your death,” the vision replied.

“Are you me?”

“I am as much you as you are me.”

A blinding bolt of lightning slammed into the earth between the two men and Castiel opened his eyes to reveal the bedroom he had fallen asleep in.

He felt a hand on his shoulder and looked over to see Willa staring at him with a worried expression. “Did you have a dream?” she asked.

“Yes. I had a very strange dream,” he said.

“What was it about?”

He looked at her and felt compelled to tell her everything he had experienced, but something held the words at bay. He knew he loved this woman, and he was as devoted as any man could be to his true love, but he felt the slightest hesitation in trusting her with this information.

“I don’t remember,” he mumbled.

“Maybe you just need to relax a little,” she said, her hand sliding down his arm and onto his stomach. He had gone to sleep naked, and her fingers met no resistance as they...
