Descripción editorial

Pleasures of a Libertine describes the amorous adventures of Frank Mortimer, a wealthy English gentleman who has chosen to squander his inheritance by pursuing a life of pleasure and dissipation.
His conquests include maidservants, shop girls, young wives, titled ladies and even an Italian countess. He has a special fondness for prostitutes, for their favors can be bought and they are easily accessible.
Frank is only eighteen years old when he first visits the low-class prostitutes who inhabit London’s Waterloo Road and the adjoining streets, but after he comes into his inheritance, he is able to afford the services of a higher class of prostitute—those who frequent Regent Street, the Haymarket the Argyle Rooms and the Cafe de l’Europe.
Even though Frank Mortimer is a fictional character, the description in Jack Falworth’s book of prostitution in nineteenth century England is based entirely on fact. The author has carefully researched his novel, and the details are derived from first hand accounts written at the time.
