Somewhere in the House

In the tenth mystery featuring the astute Henry Gamadge, the past and present collide in a wealthy New York mansion. The Clayborn family has a peculiar tradition: a room in their house has been sealed shut for twenty years, ever since the death of the formidable matriarch, Mrs. Clayborn. Inside lies her valuable collection of buttons and other treasures, waiting to be distributed among the heirs. But when the family finally unseals the door, they find more than just dusty heirlooms. A fresh corpse is discovered among the antiques, turning a family gathering into a crime scene. Gamadge is called in to determine how a murderer could strike within a house that was supposedly secure, and which family member was desperate enough to kill to keep their secrets hidden.
