Scant world-building raises more questions than the brief, fast-paced story has room to detail, and character descriptions are often limited to backward-looking phrases ("exotically gorgeous," "narrow-waisted"); Sadie, nevertheless, makes for a sympathetic, engaging protagonist throughout.
