The gods are cruel and fickle, no one else would have made Matthew's mate and mine the same woman. Watching her with him will kill me, but I can't leave. The fight is here and our enemies want her dead. Can I stay alive long enough to see her safe?

When Fen walks in I know without a doubt that I can't be Matthew's lost love, no matter how much I want to be. No matter the dreams I had of him, the wolf and I can feel this man singing in our blood. What is wrong with me? And why does the idea of keeping them both feel so right? My worries about them are swept away in the face of renewed attacks by my enemies, the worst of the attacks coming from my own grandmother.
