The question, every architecture school in the world has to ask is: how can we teach the skills and knowledge relevant to the profession in future? As architectural education is relatively long - the future to be imagined by the educators is about 10 years. Sometimes even 15 years. This is a long time, especially in the current world, that changes at an unbelievable speed. Needless to say that most of the schools fail in this task.

Although the architectural profession is thousands of years old cultural and intellectual activity, it is highly dependent on technologies, especially building and designing technologies involved in the material shaping of the environment. In the last thirty years, a grand revolution has happened. We have not noticed it that easily as we take part in it every day. So within this grand revolution, a whole new generation has been brought up. They do not remember the time without mobile phones, digital screens and world wide web. It is admirable how humans get used to the new appliances and interiorise the essence of these.

This book looks at this fantastic digital development from the perspective of architecture. Both, with fear and enjoyment! The beauty of the moment is that we do not know yet: should we fear or enjoy? One is for sure though, there is no going back. The Digital Age is here to stay and its steep flight accelerates. AI is such a powerful instrument that I believe, we have entered already the Fourth Technological Turn.
