PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Tingle (Lucky Day) turns both the music and the blood spatter up to 11 in this extremely gory horror outing that nevertheless puts his trademark sense of humor on full display. Gorgeous fashion influencer Poppy Stringer works hard, turning on the charm for the camera and her 200,000 followers. She works even harder at her night job: stealing bodies from funeral homes, for purposes she doesn't want to know too much about and sums of money that fund her glamorous lifestyle. It's all worth it to provide the good life for her five-year-old daughter, Marlo. When Poppy's favorite musician, the flamboyant piano rocker Eddie Michaels, is killed by a drunk driver, Poppy's not expecting the phone call telling her to go collect his body from the morgue. She's doubly shocked when Eddie rises from the dead, claims to have made a deal with the devil, and ropes Poppy into acting as his driver as he undertakes mysterious errands to perform the necessary rituals to stay alive. This plot quickly gives rise to a gleefully bloody spree through Palm Springs. Tingle unwaveringly commits to the bit, masterfully juxtaposing intense horror, witty observation, and genuine emotion. Though not for the faint of heart, this is unforgettable.
