Fire's Chosen

Spurned by academic colleagues for his serious research into the ridiculed myths of the elements Mother Earth, Water, Air, and Fire, Hilmar leaves Hon Danl University in Land’s End. Accompanied by his mercenary twin brother, Evan, and childhood friend, Shawna, Hilmar seeks to discover the truth.

But the truth is elusive and dangerous. In his innocence, Hilmar stumbles along the path for answers. A dark woman haunts his dreams, threatening to distract him from his goal, while a beautiful shapeshifter offers vague promises of help. When the charming ladies’ man, Evan, comes into possession of a mysterious talisman of power, Hilmar is convinced it is a legendary Key of Stewardship from Mother Earth. Yet, why is it that every time it is used, Fire’s demons appear and sometimes Fire herself, determined to upset the precarious balance between the four elements? The group’s troubles are compounded by the fact that Shawna, of the noble and powerful Van-Rudell clan, is on the run from her family, desperate to avoid a silk-lined cage.

Their combined odysseys will take them to exotic realms where they must face strange and perilous races, and a devastating confrontation none of them could have foreseen.

Fire's Chosen is one of the better stories I've had the privilege of reading in a long while. After reading the first few paragraphs I was hooked. William Larson's amazing ability to create a world so vivid and so "real" made it impossible to become utterly engulfed by it. The plot is thrilling, intelligent, and completely captivating. The characters are colorful, intriguing, and well developed. Every page, every scene stimulates all five of your senses. It's packed full of adventure, intrigue, action, and humor. This is a story I will read again and again and be as equally entertained as the first time.
