It's 2048, and an alien civilization is only a suspiciously convenient wormhole away.

While international governments struggle to approach the situation, cybernetics salesman turned billionaire playboy Bob Sakamoto and his friend Ted Decker ignore the bureaucracy, travel through the wormhole, and land on the planet (which they name Groenheid) mere weeks after its discovery. They find what you'd expect - a tolerable climate and many inhabitants.
