About the Author

Conrad Squires is a writer and poet who lives halfway up a hill that overlooks Short Beach and the Boston Ships’ Channel in Nahant, Massachusetts, just north of Boston. He is retired, having owned and managed a direct mail fund-raising firm for over 25 years. (His nickname among fund-raisers is “the guru”.) The greatest benefit of retirement is that it’s given him time to finish First Emperor, an excursion into the life of China’s greatest warrior, the man who essentially created modern China 200 years before Christ.


Con Squires is also the author of a chapbook of poems, Dancing with the Switchman (Puddinghouse Press, 2001) and a textbook, “Teach Yourself to Write Irresistible Fundraising Letters (Bonus Books, 1993).
