Flowering Wilderness (1932) by John Galsworthy is a novel about a young woman named Dinny Cherrell who falls in love with Wilfred Desert, a poet returning from the East with a disgraceful secret. Wilfred is accused of turning Muslim under threats of violence, violating strict British societal codes of honor and faith.

Wilfred's "conversion" under duress is viewed by society and Dinny's family as cowardly, creating a scandal that tests their love. The story highlights the clash between personal affection and the rigid, often hypocritical, moral codes of the British upper class. Unlike other Galsworthy heroines, Dinny is portrayed as a strong, independent woman who tries to defend Wilfred against public scorn.
It is the very popular second book in the final End of the Chapter trilogy within The Forsyte Chronicles.
