“The greatest of all footprints is the fresh one.”
Aeschylus.

About the Book
The Suppliant Maidens:
This drama is the first and only of a trilogy that was probably staged in 463 B.C. It has a strong religious and moral message, and the chorus represents the Danads—Danaus' daughters.

The Persians:
Strong references are made in this play from 472 B.C. to the battles of Salamis (480 B.C.) and Marathon (490 B.C.), which are attributed to Aeschylus. It is set in a far-off place, separate from the daily activities of Athens, and it revolves on the notion that the city, or polis, is an essential component of human civilization.

The Seven Against Thebes:
This play, composed in 467 B.C., is about the sons of Oedipus, the disgraced King of Thebes. It is the first time in any of Aeschylus's works that the notion that the polis is an essential element of human civilization is presented.

The Prometheus Bound:
Though the actual date of the play's inception is uncertain, it is believed to have been written after 458 B.C. Ancient sources attribute the play's bulk to static discourse, which is attributed to Aeschylus. With a strong moral and theological emphasis, it highlights how people fit into the cosmos in connection to the gods and divine justice and vengeance.
