The opinion of the court was delivered by This is an appeal from a district court order upholding the termination of the employment contracts of two tenured teachers in the nursing department at the Kansas City, Kansas Community College (KCKCC). The nursing department of the KCKCC was created in 1970, offering an associate degree in nursing. Evelyn Cochran was hired as an instructor that year. Veronica Kelly joined the teaching staff in 1971. The early years of the nursing program were uneventful. It started well with complete cooperation between faculty and administration.
