Creatures of myth and legend hide in the world all around us. A select few have been charged with protecting humanity from this truth. Dangerous supernaturals are hunted, captured, and imprisoned by the warden. His duty, above all, is to maintain his prison and punish those who have harmed humans. To continue his work, he must find a successor.

Danato has been the designated warden for a secret prison deep in the arctic circle for as long as he cares to remember. Though he is only one in a long line of wardens, there is no one to follow him. Since this isn't a regular prison, he doesn't have the luxury of advertising in the local newspaper. He must find his own successor.

Unfortunately, that means bringing someone new into his strange world. A world of vampires, werewolves, and all manner of fairy tales and nightmares. Mostly nightmares. And if that wasn't bad enough, there is a catch. There is always a catch.

The job offer is permanent. Once he decides on a candidate, there is no turning back, for them or him.
