ZIPOLITE

Publisher Description

It’s the late 90s and 20-something Melissa escapes the mess of her life in Sydney to a remote Mexican beach among an eclectic group of kindred spirits- expats and travellers each with their own reason - hiding from the law or responsibility or seeking a new alternative life- and also local Mexicans who seem happy-go-lucky but below the surface have their own challenges.

Charismatic Solomon is the surfer king and leads a group of ‘cabana boys’ in a vigilante group to keep the village a safe haven. But rumour has it that he has been in prison, that he is a secret narco or police informer. He is in love with another Australian, Connie, an outback Australian nurse and Aborigine determined to embrace all the opportunities denied to her father. When she falls pregnant Solomon enlists Melissa’s aid to convince her to stay. But tragedy strikes, Solomon disappears and Connie is left pregnant, alone and heartbroken. The entire group disintegrates and leaves Zipolite.

Years later, as the Mayan calendar ends, Melissa returns to Mexico and discovers what happened to Solomon. Following his trail will reveal that almost nothing was what it seemed and she will be faced with a momentous ultimatum.
