It was supposed to be simple: go to the pier and count to the end pier plus one. Zee was trying to follow her Momma’s plan when she met Joe, who was fishing that evening. Zee’s life was changed when she met Joe and Momma C, and she thought it was going to be the fairy tale she’d dreamed of until she learned they wouldn’t adopt her. Her world crashed for a second time as she went from a home of laughter and joy to Mother, who wanted someone who would cook and clean but never bother her.
