Definition of "FOCUS"
Focus is essential to success. In fact, it may fall into the same category as ambition, motivation, leadership and other driving forces for success, but it doesn't necessarily receive the attention it deserves. Although it is often downplayed, the role of focus cannot be sabotaged in a person's ability to be productive.
What all this basically means is that you need to be focused in order to accomplish something or succeed in your endeavors. But before we get into that, here's a look at what focus really means. By definition, concentration is a skill that allows people to start a task without procrastinating and to maintain their attention and effort until the work is finished. It is a skill that not only allows you to pay attention to the things you are working on, but also to avoid distractions that impede the work you are trying to do. In fact, concentration is so important to accomplishing anything that you can't think without concentration. When you hear about things like perception, memory, learning, reasoning, decision making, and problem solving, you know that none of it can be done successfully if you don't concentrate. Conversely, a wandering mind will make you less effective in your work and your productivity will suffer. It will also compromise the quality of your work, leading to sub-optimal results. Not to forget, you will also lose time every time your mind is distracted.
