INTRODUCTION The idea of "people doing it for themselves" to reduce poverty and create jobs for the people of South Africa" has been the approach and the strategy preached by the African National Congress (ANC) led government of South Africa since it came into power in 1994. This was done through the establishment of income generating projects run and managed by a group (agribusinesses) or individual household community members.
