Patrick Mitchell is confronted with a multi-dimensional universe, taking him through lapse in a time continuum of events involving the development of rocket and space shuttle advancement, construction of the U.S. space station Daedalus, and the future starship Rendezvous, that will take mankind to Mars and beyond. The United States and Russia agree to a cooperative two-year trip to the red planet. Unknown to the U.S., Russia has a plan of their own about the outcome of this venture. Patrick and a team of six Americans and six Russians meet the challenge, and themselves, through the space-time of many mansions.
