This publication is most applicable to corps commanders and staffs. It provides relevant information regarding the corps organization and operations for commanders and staffs at subordinate divisions and brigades, corps, theater armies, other Service headquarters, and combatant commands. The organizational figures and associated staffing levels are derived from an amalgamation of corps and main command post-operational detachment modified tables of organization and equipment, and may vary to some degree from individual modified tables of organization and equipment for different corps.

The principal audience for ATP 3-92 is all members of the profession of arms. Commanders and staffs of Army headquarters serving as joint task force or multinational headquarters should also refer to applicable joint or multinational doctrine concerning the competition continuum and joint or multinational forces. Trainers and educators throughout the Army will also use this publication.
