Cevher-i Cemil

Babasının ölümü üzerine amcası Refik Bey’in yanında yaşamak zorunda kalan Cemîl’in, çiftliğin kahyası Lenber Ağa’nın tanburu ile ilk tanışması sonrasında abisi Tanbûrî Ahmed Bey’in hediye ettiği tanbur ile devam eden mûsikî macerası, kemençe, yaylı tanbur, viyolonsel, zurna ve bağlama gibi çalgılarla sürmüş, bütün ömrü dönemin kalburüstü simalarının konaklarında çalmakla geçmiştir.
Onu, kısa süren rindane ömrü müddetince, her gittiği ortamda baş köşeye oturtan, fıtri yeteneği üzerine kendi gözlemleriyle oluşturduğu, yepyeni çalım sentezinin farklılığı olmuştur. Bu farklılık önceleri kabul görmese de, çok kısa sürede hayranlığa dönüşecek ölçüde beğenilmiştir.
Cemîl Bey’in mûsikîsini oluşturan cevher; halktan, tasavvuf çevresinden, garp mûsikîsinden ve doğadan nemalanmış ve yepyeni bir ekolün doğmasını sağlamıştır.
Bu çalışmada, Cevher-i Cemîl’in, yaşamının çeşitli dönemlerine ait, günümüze intikal etmiş anekdotların şahitliği ile nasıl şekillendiği gözler önüne serilmektedir.



Cemîl who had to live with his uncle Refik Bey after his father’s death had a musical adventure that started with his first acquaintance with Lenber Ağa, the farm butler’s tanbur, then this venture continued with the tanbur that Tanbûrî Ahmed Bey (his older brother) gave him as a present and with instruments like kemençe, yaylı tanbur, cello, zurna and bağlama afterwards; he passed his whole life performing in the mansions of the elite of his time.
During his short philosophical life, the difference of his brand new performance synthesis that he created by his observations based on his inherent gift was the thing that made him sit on the seat of honour wherever he went. Although this difference wasn’t accepted in the first place it was appreciated on a scale of admiration in a short time.
The quintessence that made up Cemîl Bey’s music was nourished from people, eastern music and nature, it gave birth to a new school as well.
In this work, how “Cevher-i Cemîl” Cemîl’s Gem was shaped will be revealed through the witnessing of the anecdotes related to various periods of his life that came up until today.
