Injured Army Captain Brian Hutchinson comes home to Twilight, Tex., for Christmas. Discharged because of PTSD and his refusal to speak, Hutch just wants to be left alone with his anger. Unfortunately his flaky sister, Ashley, sublet his house to quiet Jane Brown, and when he walks in, Jane pepper-sprays him. When Ashley hops over to Mexico with a new flame and leaves her daughter behind, Jane helps him take care of the little girl and gradually begin to heal his physical and psychological wounds. Hutch is not the only one with baggage: "Jane" is actually a woman named Meredith who's on the run from an abusive husband and hoping to set down roots with Twilight's welcoming folks. Wilde heaps almost too many troubles on Meredith and Hutch, but they wade through it all and build a new family in this heartwarming Christmas romance.
