When newlyweds Riley and Ben move to the region where Ben is the new GBI Crime Scene Investigator, Riley is offered a position to accompany a veterinarian on farm visits. Her first day is a disaster. A farmer's cows were poisoned; the veterinarian is incompetent and refuses her help.

She leaves the office at the end of the day, unsure whether she quit or was fired, but she's the only one who can stop a psychopath's obsessive attacks on the quiet farm community.
