Felip Pedrell at the Biblioteca de Catalunya

Generalitat de Catalunya. Departament de Cultura

Descripción editorial

This publication presents Felip Pedrell, composer and promoter of the Music Department of the Biblioteca de Catalunya, which 100th foundation anniversary was celebrated in 2017.

The aim of this ebook -edited by the Biblioteca de Catalunya and the Ministry of Culture of the  Generalitat de Catalunya- is to discover the intellectual legacy of the master of such composers as Isaac Albèniz, Manuel de Falla or Robert Gerhard. In it, not only will the reader find interviews - conducted by Francesc Cortès- to specialists in Felip Pedrell, such as Edmon Colomer, Romà Escalas i Llimona and Cèsar Calmell Piguillem, but also readings of letters by Felip Pedrell and his correspondents -Francisco Asenjo Barbieri, Joan Maragall or Manuel de Falla, among others- besides an exclusive interpretation of two unpublished Pedrell concerts conducted by Joan Casas.

The texts, written by Francesc Cortès, bring us closer to the life of the author and his work, in addition to presenting a selection of the most relevant manuscripts and printed books preserved in the Biblioteca de Catalunya.

The book, which concludes with an extensive and updated bibliography, is freely downloadable and released under a Creative Commons license
