Gilgamesh 2nd edition Gilgamesh 2nd edition

Gilgamesh 2nd edition

Descripción editorial

This book is a new version (in verse) of the ancient Sumerian and Babylonian Epic of Gilgamesh. It tells the history of Gilgamesh, the king of Uruk who is believed to have lived in the 28th century BC.

Gilgamesh performs heroic feats to make his name. In so doing he offend the gods and the people of Uruk, and learns the value of diplomacy and subterfuge.

Gilgamesh renounces his throne and embarks on a journey to discover the secret of immortality. In so doing, he finds Utanapishtim, the Sumerian equivalent of Noah, who survived the great flood and was granted immortality by the gods.

Note on the 2nd edition: My writing style has changed since the 1st edition, and the idea of a second is to refresh it, and take away a lot of what I now see as distracting in the original presentation. A few small additional sequences have been added.
