Diana is just trying to make it through the Halloween season as a favor to the restaurants owner. They're only meant to be here until Thanksgiving which means they have no intention of making friends or being nice to the bookseller next door who loves to pop in every morning. 
Gigi's favorite season is and always has been Halloween which means she is determined to get a smile out of the new grumpy chef next door. She doesn't understand what her problem is or why she refuses to add anything pumpkin to her menu. 
But when they get caught in a drunken kiss, not realizing the other's identity, they start to see there might be more to the other behind the masks.
