Descripción editorial

Arthur Lillie served in the British Army in India in the 1850s, when he was first exposed to Eastern religions. He wrote numerous books on Buddhism and Hinduism, and also was interested in apocryphyl books of the New Testament. Although Lillie's books on religion were not well-received by religion scholars of the time, later scholars have come to recognize their importance.

While in India, Lillie became a Buddhist. He also wrote two books on the rules of croquet.
