The step from elementary to middle school can be a big one, and for Faith Victoria Saylor it was nerve-racking. After elementary, you aren’t treated like a child anymore; you get more classes that are also difficult, more homework, and stricter teachers. On top of that, Faith was going through physical and identity changes that were not positive. Repeating fifth grade was no help; it had become an embarrassment, as it was with looking after her autistic brother, which had gotten to be a grueling job. Her manic-depressive mother often blamed her for her brother’s rascally behaviors. Not to mention her worthless, douche-bag stepfather who often came down on her like a stampede. What really hurt her, and had made her life even more miserable was that her mother was still punishing her by not allowing her to take ballet lessons. Just because several months ago, Faith made the mistake of hanging
out with a bunch of girls and some older boys that likes drinking, drugging and gambling. But it
had been some time now that she had stopped hanging out with those losers, and that she had
been behaving herself. Even so, her mother believes otherwise — that she was a liar. Will her mother ever be on her side? Will anyone? Yes, Faith is angry and worse, bitter with life. For now, she will act
like a grown-up, suck it up, and wait for the day she can break free from her Mom's grasp and reconnect with her DADDY.
