This Ode to Johann Sebastian Bach is a Surrealist Text posing as a novel. The story begins with the most dramatic episode in the Bach historical record, a violent altercation with an inept student Bassoonist in 1703 when Bach was but a nineteen-year-old organist trying to make good in his first major post. The narrative follows him in detail to Lubeck where in December of that year he meets the Great Dietrich Buxtehude and his lovely daughter, Anna Margareta, who holds the key to his future.
