Ever since Chef Wan was appointed food ambassador by the Malaysian government and resident chef of the Asian Food Channel, there can be no better person to present a variety of Asian and Western dishes. A household name and with more than 25 years of experience in the industry, Chef Wan is Asia’s most renowned culinary personality. In addition to being the Asian Food Channel’s resident chef, Chef Wan has also co-hosted food programmes with other personalities like Martin Yan, Anthony Bourdain, Rick Stein and Todd English.

 

Due to his role as Malaysia’s representative at global gourmet events, World Expos and tourism exhibitions, Chef Wan became the first celebrity chef in Malaysia to be bestowed the title of Datuk by the Malaysian Head of State, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, in 2010. This was followed by his appointment as Culinary Ambassador by Tourism Malaysia later that year. Most recently, he was the recipient of Icons of Malaysia, a recognition given by the Malaysia Book of Records in 2011 to prominent Malaysians.

 

Internationally, Chef Wan was presented with the Lifetime Jury Award at the 2007 Prix La Mazille for his contributions as Malaysia’s culinary ambassador. He was also given the highest recognition for celebrity chefs with the title Best Celebrity Chef Award at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2009.
