Something out of nothing
The Voices of Hip Hop
Descripción editorial
A remix of artists’ voices and music, this multimodal book provides opportunities to learn about the history and elements of hip hop culture but also other aspects of African American history, as revealed by the rich content in hip hop music. Explore the beats and lyrics while learning about black writers, musicians, inventors, and queens. Created with 3rd-5th grade students in mind, the content is meant to be explored in conjunction with guided conversations about power, dominant and non-dominant narratives, and the importance of giving voice to the stories of oppressed people. Furthermore, the layout is designed simply such that my students can help me to add pages to this unending book. Enjoy! ~ Ms. Lawson
