Swallowed Swallowed

Swallowed

Descripción editorial

We’ve all been that person. The Word of the Lord comes without preamble, without warning, and knocks us off of our feet. We are caught so off guard that we feel like the only option is running in the other direction. In that light Jonah makes sense, but the more we dig into the story, the deeper we go, the more we hope we are nothing like Jonah; we hope our desire to flee is where the similarities end.

So many peculiarities, so many theological questions—I mean, a big fish? Really? Why a sermon series on Jonah? Because underneath all the outrageous and crazy narrative, we see ourselves, and it frightens, inspires, apprehends us right in our path, and reminds us to be willing when the call of God comes. For come it most certainly will.
