The Bishops' Bible The Bishops' Bible

The Bishops' Bible

Descripción editorial

The Bishops' Bible was an English translation of the Bible initiated by the Church of England in 1568 under the direction of Archbishop Matthew Parker. A committee of bishops oversaw the translation work, which was based on revising the Great Bible while removing the Calvinistic notes found in the popular Geneva Bible.

The Bishops' Bible served as a temporary authorized version for the Church of England until the publication of the King James Bible in 1611, which became the new standard.
