The Chicago Phoenix

Before Larry Hall and the events of Black Bird, Jimmy Keene already had a life that most people couldn't begin to imagine.

From a young age, Jimmy Keene secretly ran a marijuana business, surviving shootouts, brawls, robberies, and even a heist or two. He believed he had it all-until his business landed him in prison. There, the FBI offered Jimmy a one-of-a-kind opportunity for redemption: become an FBI operative and obtain the information needed to keep a suspected serial killer behind bars. After successfully completing the mission, Jimmy was released with a clean slate and asked to continue working as an FBI operative to assist with other serial-killer cases.

But freedom left Jimmy with little more than memories of his former financial success and a determination to make amends for his past mistakes. This thrilling follow-up to Black Bird explores Jimmy Keene's early life, recounts his action-packed years in the drug business, reveals stunning new information about the mission that gave him a chance to clear his name, and follows his rise from the ashes as he rebuilds his life and forges a new path-all the way to Hollywood.
